Raising Quality Standards for the Telecommunications Industry
Challenges
Telecommunications service providers and suppliers are faced with industry-specific quality management issues that impact their customer relationships and business performance. To address these specific needs, the Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications QuEST Forum (a group including Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell) developed the standard TL9000.
Based on the internationally recognized standard for quality management, ISO 9001:2000, TL9000 adds requirements to help telecommunications companies continually improve their customer service, establish uniform performance and cost-based measurements, and increase competitiveness throughout the industry. TL9000 is also a valuable tool for telecommunications companies to understand how they measure up to industry performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
